Description:
Bartok's folksong influences are felt strongly in his suite-like Sonatina, that was composed in 1915. The Sonatina is based on five Rumanian folk tunes form the area known as Transylvania (a part of Hungary when Bartok collected these tunes) that Bartok collected from February 1910 to April 1914. These folk tunes are filtered through Bartok's compositional proces and his individual folk-like style is easily identified in each movement.
